JAMES L. BODDICKER
Newhall
James L. Boddicker, 76, passed away Aug. 8, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, with Father Craig E. Steimel as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery near Watkins.
Jim was born Sept. 28, 1940, the son of Leroy and Geraldine (Hegewald) Boddicker in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Newhall High School with the Class of 1958.
On Oct. 20, 1962, he married Janet Webert at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall. They are the parents of Janel (Doug) Rathbun of Independence, Jill (Wayne) Miller of Talmo, Ga., and Jeff (Amy) Boddicker of Newhall; granddaughters, Nicole (Wes) Horn of Stillwater, Okla., and Corinn (Nick) Berry of Ames; great-grandchildren, Collins and Colton Berry and Harper Horn; sisters, Jane Junge and Judy Garbers; and brothers, John and Joe Boddicker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother- and father-in-law, Eleanor and Melvin Webert.
The joy of his life was farming with his son, Jeff, especially on the Boddicker century farm north of Newhall, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, showing livestock.
