James Robert Aiken, 83, of Tama, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in

James Aiken was born July 16, 1931, in Baylis, Ill., to Charles V. and Edna Coyle Aiken. James was united in marriage to Louise Clark on Oct. 13, 1969, in International Falls, Minn. James had been employed with FMC, Gethmann Construction, Jim Dyer and most recently, with Phillips Corporation, where he retired in 1994.
James had a love for flying airplanes and also was a crop duster. He obtained his pilot's license when he was 16 years old. James also was an avid fisher. James was in construction and built several buildings in the Marshalltown and Tama area, as well as over 100 homes in the area. He also won the Illinois Silver Gloves Boxing Championship at his weight class when he was 17 years old.
Left to cherish James' memory are his wife of 45 years, Louise; sons, Randall (Gayle) Aiken of Toledo and James (Amber) Aiken of Hiawatha; daughters, Shelley (Dick) Schaff and Taryn Aunspach, both of Osceola; sisters, Wava (John) Grisham and Mary Lou Chaplin; grandchildren, Heather Brown of Des Moines, Cory Schaff of Osceola, Stephanie White of Des Moines, Ian Aiken of Muscatine and Laini Aiken of Nebraska; great- grandchildren, Easton White, Ceira White, Blakelee Engbrecht, Brooklyn Engbrecht, Evan Maxwell Aiken and Abilene Aiken; stepsons, Eric (Dixie) Evans, Matthew Evans and Michael (Mary) Evans; stepdaughters, Vicki (Jay) Leversee and Lisa (Roger) Coleman; stepgrand-children, Jared Leversee, Kristin King, Heather Ashley, Raquel Erickson, Mandy Dolphin, Steven Evans, Cara Evans, Andy Coleman, Rachael Coleman, Noah Coleman, Joshua Coleman, Daniel Coleman, Sarah Coleman, Rebeccah Coleman, Britney Senior and Austin Evans; and stepgreat-great- grandchildren, Everett, Ella, Lee, Michael, Ty, Daisee, Ava and Dexter.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna; and his brothers, Paul, Fred and Curt Aiken.
