James A. “Jim” Jackson Sr., 81, formerly of Iowa City, past resident of Terrace Glen Village in Marion, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
To celebrate Jim’s life his family will host a Hawkeyes tailgate from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 1, at The Kirkwood Room (next to Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service) in Iowa City. The family encourages everyone to come in Hawkeyes gear. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
Jim was born in Norwich, Iowa, on Jan. 18, 1942, the son of Nina (Lindley) and Glenn Jackson. He was married to the love of his life, Patricia Conner, on Jan. 18, 1961, and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. Jim was a 1960 graduate of City High School. He was purchasing manager in the dietary department at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1956 until his retirement. Jim was an avid Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed attending University of Iowa football games for 30 years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, James Jackson Jr., Sean (Tammie) Jackson and Nancy Richardson; 10 grandchildren, Mary (Chris) Hagensick, Amanda (Drew) Miller, Ben, Amber, Kimberly, Cristena, Pam, Deb, Hailey and Shelby; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Mariska Hagensick.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald; and his sister, Darlene Krell.
