Jacquelyn Sue Zobac, 68, of Vinton, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a long battle with lung cancer.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Tammy Buseman officiating, and will conclude with the family greeting friends until 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Jacquelyn was born Sept. 8, 1949, in Cedar Rapids to Charles and Carolyn (Uhlenberg) Brandon. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School, Class of 1967, and received her associate degree in applied science and medical coding from Kirkwood Community College in 2005.
On May 2, 1981, Jacquelyn was united in marriage to Mark Zobac in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a patient advocate with Mercy's Hall Perrine Cancer Center for 10 years. She earlier worked as a clerk at Ehlinger's in Vinton. In 2007, Jacquelyn was ordained as a minister from Liberty University and established Rose Ministry. She enjoyed spending time on the family farm pond, Women Lake in Minnesota, and all her animals.
She was a member of AA and started a Bible study and prayer group for patients at Mercy Medical Center. She adored her six grandchildren.
She survived by her husband, Mark, of Vinton; two children, James (Chrystina) Zobac of Strawberry Point and Christopher (Krystal) Goodrow of Center Point; and her six grandchildren, Jenna Michelle, Rylee Jacqueline, Christian Marcus, Dawson Randy Zobac and Jack Christopher and Aubrey Faye Goodrow.
Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Craig; her sister, Jeanne Anne Brandon; and her golden lab, Thor.
