Jacqueline Rae (Jackie) Pence, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Rome, N.Y. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private family service will be at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas of Hiawatha; daughter, Heather (Richie) Akers of Cedar Rapids; son, Ryan Pence of Florida; grandchildren, Harrison and Zoey Akers; sister, Judy Swore; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jackie was born Feb. 26, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Reuben and Margaret Chisletta Fencl. On June 13, 1981, Jackie and Thomas Pence were united in marriage. Jackie was a voracious reader. She loved the smell of fresh lilacs and was happiest next to the water. Jackie volunteered for Cedar Rapids Jaycees, Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary, American Heart Association and Hospice House of Estero, Fla.
Jackie will be remembered for her love of family, her joy of entertaining, her gift of giving and her love of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Theatre Cedar Rapids in her honor.
