Jacobsen, Margery Ruth
Margery Ruth Jacobsen, 84, a resident of Summit Pointe in Marion, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at First Presbyterian Church in Marion, by the Rev. Schuett. The family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Janet (David) Nevins of Grinnell, Nancy (Colin) Williams of Marion and Richard (Julie) Jacobsen of St. Louis, Mo.; her grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Nevins, Christopher (Amberly) Williams and Anthony “Chip” and Natalie Jacobsen; and great-grandchildren, Alexander Snook and Arianna Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; her brother, Robert Price; and her sister, Barbara Penn.
Margery was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Marion, to Ray and Ruth (Joyce) Price. She was married to Kenneth Jacobsen on July 30, 1948, in Marion. Kenneth died Jan. 14, 1996. Margery was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion. She was a proud lifelong resident of Marion. Margery loved her pets, but her greatest passion in life was being with her children and grandchildren. She always faced life with a positive outlook.
A memorial fund has been established in Margery's memory.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Summit Pointe and to the St. Luke's Hospice team for their compassionate care.
Our mom, along with our dad, gave us a Christian home and a strong family bond, the gifts we cherish most.
