Jacob Michael Aucutt, 31, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at St. George Antiochian Church, located at 3650 Cottage Grove Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at St. George. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.
Jacob was born April 21, 1991, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Michael and Cheryl (Koury) Aucutt. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington, Class of 2009. He earned an Associate degree in Biology from Kirkwood Community College. Jacob was honored by the Lebanese American Club of Cedar Rapids for his community service including volunteer work during the Flood of 2008. He loved medieval and European history, collecting swords of the period.
Jacob enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and most of all his dog Merlin. He was a devout Christian and always willing to help others. He was a dreamer, wrote songs and played the keyboard. His love of music was phenomenal as he had over a terabyte of music stored. Everything from heavy metal, classic rock, pop, jazz, and blues. He thrived off debating religion, politics, history, and science. Time playing Risk or Uno with his friends brought him great pleasure. Although he was a quiet young man, when he was around his “band of brothers” he opened up and became as they’d say, “a witty comedian and prankster.”
Jacob is survived by his father; his sister, Sarah Aucutt of Bettendorf; his aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Cheryl; his grandmothers, Eva Koury and Ruth Aucutt; and his grandfathers, Michael Koury and William Aucutt.
Jacob was gone too soon. Memorials may be directed to the family.
