JACOB LEE MARKWELL
Cedar Rapids
Jacob Lee Markwell, 18, of Cedar Rapids, left this earth on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. A private family inurnment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Jacob Lee Markwell was born Nov. 20, 1999, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lee Markwell and the late Shelley K. Razor-Markwell. He attended Jefferson High School and was currently attending Kirkwood Community College. Jacob worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts as a retail sales specialist and for the Cedar Rapids Kernels as a concessionaire.
Jacob loved life and enjoyed being outdoors. Jacob's favorite activities were diesel trucks, going mudding, flying the "Murica" flag and fishing. But Jacob's true passion was all the great times spent with his friends and family. Jacob was a camouflage-wearing, gear-head, caring, compassionate and giving young man. He was a wonderful son, brother, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, Lee Markwell; a brother, Derek Ross; his sister, Chelsea Ross, all of Cedar Rapids; his grandparents, MaryBeth (Lloyd) McCoy of Montour; his fiancee, Haley Harris of Coggon; special companions, his dogs, Storm and Hooch; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelley Kay Razor-Markwell; grandparents, Jerry Markwell and Eldon Razor and Shirley Kinney; and great-grandparents, Eloise (Robert) Christopherson.
He was taken from us much too soon, but his spirit, quest for adventure, and love for life will be with us always.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and the donation will be made in Jacob's honor.
