Jack R. Morgan, 90, of Grand Island, Neb., died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at his home with family by his side. Memorial services will be at a later date with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Memorials are suggested to the Hall County Hero Flight. Jack was born July 24, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Rollie and Carrie (Robison) Morgan. He grew up and graduated high school in Webster. Jack was united in marriage to Andree McLean on Jan. 4, 1953, in Wapello. Together they lived in the Cedar Rapids area for nearly 60 years, while Jack worked in drafting and design at Rockwell Collins for 35 years. About five years ago Jack and Andree moved to a retirement home in Grand Island to be closer to family.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1948, serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 0572 in Fairfax and the Korean War Association.
Jack was an avid fisherman, making his own lures and rods, proud gardener, and especially loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Andree; son, Kyle Morgan of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Kim (Ed) Conroy of Grand Island; grandchildren, Bob Morgan of Tucson, Colleen Morgan of Tucson, Justin (Jennifer) Conroy of West Des Moines and Katie (Michael) Hoesche of Haleiwa, Hawaii, and their children, Abel and Owen; and a sister-in-law, Lorna McLean of Dubuque.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan McLean; his granddaughter, Adrienne Morgan; sisters-in-law, Carol Hervey and Norma McLean; and brothers-in-law, Jim Hervey, Neal McLean, Douglas McLean and Harold McLean.
