Jack A. Hutchcroft, 70, of Marion, formerly of Springville, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018. A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends following the Rosary until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at St. Matthew Catholic Church conducted by the Rev. Steve Garner. The family also will greet friends one hour before Mass at the church on Wednesday. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
Jack was born June 10, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Junior and Bonnie (Oliphant) Hutchcroft. He graduated from Regis High School in 1966. Jack married Diana Brislawn and they later divorced. Jack was a mechanical draftsman for the Duane Arnold Energy Center and Harnischfeger. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, but his greatest love of all was his family, especially his grandchildren, and spending time with them.
He is survived by his children, Jason Hutchcroft of Central City, Chris (Darcy) Hutchcroft of Hiawatha and Joni (Jon) Bruce of Hiawatha; three grandchildren, Starlene (Ken) Cooper of Temecula, Calif., Alexa Hutchcroft of Springville and Khiana Bruce of Hiawatha; two great-grandchildren, Lianna and Lenyx; and siblings, Jay (Sandy) Hutchcroft of Colorado, Joe Hutchcroft of Martelle, Mary DeShaw of Cedar Rapids, Susie (Randy) Pierce of Central City and Laureen (Casey) Regan of Ankeny.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julie Hutchcroft; brother-in-law, Frank DeShaw; and grandson, Brayden Bruce.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jack's memory.
