JACK K. HOMAN Cedar Rapids Jack K. Homan, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017. Public visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A private family graveside service with military honors will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his daughter, Jill (Kevin) Morgan of Toddville; grandchildren, Austin (Becky) Morgan of Elmwood Park, Ill., James (Patty) Morgan of Villa Park, Ill., and Elizabeth (Dillon) Boenish of Cedar Rapids; also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Zack and Chris Morgan and Pamela Boenish; best friend and companion, Fran Hanshaw of Cedar Rapids; and her son, Steve (Tanya) Hanshaw of The Woodlands, Texas; and their children, Noah, Grace and Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Homan; and grandson, Aaron Morgan. Jack Homan was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clair and Frances (Dite) Homan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a lifelong member of VFW Post No. 788, Cedar Rapids. Jack worked for the Cedar Rapids Gazette for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and playing cards. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs and traveling with his family.
