Jack Richard Ellis, 83, of Marion, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A private family service will be held. Private family burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Suzanna of Marion; his children, Michael (Dolly) Ehrlich of Florida and Angela "Angie" Ellis of Illinois; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter.
Jack was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Iowa City, the son of Jack William and Benita (Busby) Ellis. On Sept. 26, 1956, in Berlin, Germany, he married Susanna Leinert. Jack worked 25 years at Orbis in Monticello. His hobbies included railroading and traveling. Jack also had a love for the mountains and exploring ghost towns. He will be dearly missed by his family and close friends.
