JACK CIHA JR.
Cedar Rapids
Jack Ciha Jr., son of John and Lucille Ciha, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
Jack was born on a farm
in Lisbon, Iowa, on Oct. 22, 1929. Following graduation from Lisbon High School, he married the love of his life, Jeanne, on Aug. 14, 1949.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Jeanne; sons, Dan (Kay), Stu (Teresa), Mike (Lynn) and Brad (Kim); along with eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Jack also is survived by his brother, Don; and sisters, Lorraine, Joyce and Patsy.
While continuing to farm, Jack began his career at Quaker Oats in 1954. He began in the shipping department, progressing into the electrical supervisor position, retiring almost 38 years later in 1992. He enjoyed league bowling and church softball, and playing and watching the game of golf.
Although Jack was a man of few words, he was respected by all who knew him for his quiet wisdom. His love for Jeanne, his family and the Lord were on display every moment of every day throughout Jack's life.
Quiet. Compassionate. Caring. Loving husband, father and grandfather. Man of faith. These and a thousand other words only begin to describe this gentle, sweet man who will forever remain in our hearts ... and never far from our thoughts.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, at the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park. The family will greet guests one hour prior to services. Private family inurnment will follow.
