Jack William "Bill" Beaty Jr., 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 30, 2021. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed
into the gathering at one time. The use of face masks
or shields is required. Funeral services will be private. The service will be live streamed starting at 10 a.m. CDT, Thursday, May 6, find link at www.lcrmarion.org. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Patricia; their daughters, Sara Beaty of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Megan (Robert) Bjork of Marion, Iowa; and his sons, Steven (Dorothy) Beaty of Murfeesboro, Tenn., and Joshua (Jodie) of Floresville, Texas; stepmother, Charlie Beaty of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandchildren, Amber and Nichol Dehaan, Merryk Beaty, Joshua, Jackson and Hadley Beaty and Leo and Arthur Bjork. Also surviving are his brothers, George, Dennis and Mike Beaty; and sisters, Jackie Beaty, Donna Rotramel, Cindy Beaty and Pat Navarro. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was born Jan. 6, 1958, in Lafayette, La., the son of Jack and Rosalea (Mills) Beaty. He attended Mendenhall High School, MS and Kirkwood Community College. He married Patricia Sweeney on Nov. 30, 1985, in Marion, Iowa. Jack was a professor for Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed wood working, crossword puzzles, stamp collecting, fishing, golf, poker and grilling. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Iowa Hawkeyes fan and a collector of rare bourbons.
Jack was a loving and dedicated son, husband, parent and grandparent. His out-going and playful personality made him a wonderful host for any occasion. He had a passion for teaching and helping people. You could always count on help being a phone call away. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kirkwood Foundation, Marion Independent School Foundation and Alumni Association or Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion.
