Jack Allen Peacock, Sr., 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, lost his life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, while fishing at Lake McBride. Jack’s family will host a Celebration of Life Gathering from 10 – 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Airport National Golf Course Clubhouse, 3001 Wright Brothers Blvd. East, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404. A private family burial for Jack and Penny will be held at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids on a later date.
Jack was born on January 10, 1940, in Newhall, Iowa to Leonard and Audrey (Wienands) (Joyce) Peacock. Jack served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 – 1961. He married Penelope Ann West (from Nevada, Iowa) on June 18, 1966. Jack was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 308 before transitioning to the Millwrights Union Local 2158 until his retirement in 2005.
From a young age, Jack developed a love for hunting and fishing. Later in life, he started golfing. He fell in love with the sport and all the many relationships and friends that he made through the years while golfing.
Jack is survived by his children, Lynnette K. (Ronald D.) Halstead, Jr. of Marion, Iowa, and Jack (Brooke McLaud) Peacock, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Adam D. Halstead of Marion, Amanda Willson of Wyoming, Iowa, Chelsea K. Hartney of Center Point, Iowa, and McKean Peacock of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Nia Halstead, Alyc Halstead, Wesley Willson, Coleson Hartney, Braxton Willson, Nova Peacock, Aiden Halstead, and Avery Halstead.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Audrey (Joyce) Peacock and his wife, Penny Peacock.
The family would like everyone to find inspiration in Jack’s love of life and the great outdoors and find comfort in knowing he died doing something he loved.
