Ivedene Bernice "Ivy" Patten, 85, of Burlington, Kan., formerly of Iowa, passed away Sunday,
Oct. 19, 2014, at the Life Care Center in Burlington.
She was born June 4, 1929, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph A. and Sara V. (Jones) Aamodt. On May 28, 1949, Ivy and Morris Gabriel Patten were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1959 where they raised their five children. They were longtime residents of 4950 Kesler Rd. NW in Cedar Rapids.
Later in life, Ivy attended Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. She loved music and loved to dance to country music and play her piano.
Her husband, Morris, preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1985. She was also preceded by a son, Tom Patten.
In October 2010, Ivy moved to the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kan.
She will be missed by her children, Connie Harrington and husband Steve of Gallup, N.M., Mike Patten of Cedar Rapids, Tim Patten and wife Sherri of Burlington, Kan., and Dan Patten of Salina, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Campbell of Hollywood, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Brittney, Amanda, Natasha, Kirby, Sarah, Zackary and Jacob; a sister, Verla Keeling, Cedar Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.
Ivy always wanted everyone around her to be happy. She loved her longtime friends on Kesler Road.
The family will meet with friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph/
Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.
