Ishmael, Diane Marie
Diane Marie Ishmael, 41, of Ossian, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at her home in Ossian.
She was born July 26, 1970, in Wagner, S.D., to Marion and Linda (Pavlis) Ishmael.
Diane graduated from Colome High School, Colome, S.D., in 1988. She then graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. During this time of her education she spent a semester at Oxford University in England.Her quest for learning pushed her to continue her education.She received a master's degree in English from Iowa State University in 1995 and a master's degree in education from Drake University in 1998.
Diane taught school at Des Moines Lincoln, Waukee, Starmont and Turkey Valley and was currently teaching at Forest Trail Academy and Northeast Iowa Community College.This remained Diane's one true love. Her students. Diane inspired many students to increase their knowledge and challenged them to exceed their own highest expectations.
Her compassion and intensity for the written word has left an incredible impression on so many young minds.
Diane was united in marriage with Stephen Wright on May 24, 1994, in Des Moines; they were later divorced. She then married Dr. Patrick Boe on Jan. 1, 2011, in San Diego, Calif.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her children, reading books, conversation and traveling.
Diane is survived by her husband, Dr. Patrick Boe of Ossian; two children, Brennen and Jason Wright of Ankeny; three stepchildren, Domenic, Mahogani and Kaelan Boe, all of Calmar; her parents, Marion and Linda Ishmael of Clearfield, S.D.; her sister, Denise Ishmael and Karl Tonsager of Harrisburg, S.D.; her maternal grandmother, Clara Belle Pavlis of Gregory, S.D.; her first husband, Stephen (Ginger) Wright of Ankeny; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Diane was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Lawrence Pavlis; and her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Viola Ishmael.
Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Turkey Valley High School, Jackson Junction. Inurnment will be Aug. 4 at the Wagner Z.C.B.J. Cemetery in Wagner, S.D. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian and one hour before services at the school on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diane Ishmael Memorial Fund.
Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian is helping the family with the arrangements.
