Irving James "Jim" Lagneaux, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Jim was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Biloxi, Miss., the son of Irving James and Mary Catherine (Ramsey) Lagneaux. He served in the active military for three years. Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Iowa State University. He was employed at Rockwell Collins and proudly retired in 2015, after 38 years of service.
He married Carol Grinde on July 24, 1976, in Burlington, Iowa. To this union, two children were born. Jim loved motorcycle rides with friends, the family cottage in Spirit Lake, sailing and kayaking, spending time with friends and family in his backyard, working on never-ending house projects, and traveling. Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carol of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Ryan (Samantha) Lagneaux of Cedar Rapids and Aaron (Ashly) Lagneaux of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Henry, George, Smith and Brooks; a brother, Bob (Sue) Lagneaux of Polk City; sister, Carol Duwa of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Cathy Vickroy of Norwalk; brother-in-law, Dave Grinde of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Grinde of Burlington; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean; father-in-law, Douglas Grinde; and brother-in-law, Mike Vickroy.
A memorial in Jim's name has been established.
