IRMA IRENE GUNDERSON

Irma Irene Gunderson, 95, a resident of Living Center West, went to heaven Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. Services: noon Saturday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where friends may call after 11 a.m. The Rev. Zachary Johnson will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Irma was born Dec. 5, 1919, on a farm outside Monona, Iowa, to Archie and Eltha Thompson. Irma was the oldest of seven children.
Survivors include her children, Bryan (Barb) of Tustin, Calif., Gwen (Charlie) Smith of Norway, Iowa, Kermit (Vicky) of Onalaska, Wis., and Deanna (Steve) Fox of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Janet Gunderson of Arizona; grandchildren, Lissa Gunderson-Erwin, Kimberly Gunderson and Sarah Lawson, all of California; Chuck, Matthew and Dallas Smith, all of Iowa; Jay Gunderson of Wisconsin; and Kalynn and Harrison Gunderson of Arizona. She also is survived by 12 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Ronald (Beverly) Gunderson of Leesburg, Fla.; many special nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark; grandson, Kirk Gunderson; her former husband, James H. Gunderson; and her siblings, Aletha, Dorothy, Gerald, Verdean, Leroy and Gaylord.
Irma was a faithful member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She loved to garden and had a true green thumb for all plants inside and out.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
