Irene VonMuenster, 94, died Sunday March 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, March 20, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Friends may call from 9 until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Thoughts, memories, and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving are her 4 children, Roberta (Stan) Cook, Mary (Doug) Kaiser, Ken (Julie) VonMuenster, Karen (Chris) Davis, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, and a daughter Jean.
Irene Louise Lena VonSprecken was born October 4, 1929, Olin, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Anna Hintz, VonSprecken. She graduated from Oxford Junction High School. Irene married Leo VonMuenster on April 24, 1949, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The couple farmed north of Clarence until 1963 when they purchased their farm east of Anamosa. Irene was the prime example of a farmer’s wife. She raised her 5 children with love and devotion with her husband Leo.
Irene was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Eastern Star, and the Antioch Circle. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, quilting, family gatherings, and time spent with friends. She and Leo loved to dance, travel, and play cards.
