Irene Siekierka passed in her residence in Brighton, Colo., on the morning of Sept. 29, 2017, at the age of 95. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hiawatha by the Rev. Mark A Ressler. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. On Saturday, Oct. 7, a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, 510 Richard Mautino Dr., Spring Valley, Ill., where friends may visit with the family one hour before the prayer service. Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Spring Valley.
Irene was born Feb. 23, 1922, the daughter of Stanley and Marie (Nowak) Molinoski, and was raised in Grandville, Ill. She married Lawrence Siekerka on May 5, 1943, in Spring Valley, and raised her family in Cedar Rapids. Irene was a beautician and later became a physical therapist and worked with Lawrence in his chiropractic office in Cedar Rapids.
Irene is survived by her sister, Rose Prostko; children, Richard (Jean) and Diane; grandchildren, Danielle (Matt), Ryan (Andrea), Kelsey, Keri (AJ) and Kimberly, Brittany; and three great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Donald and David; daughter, Judy; and siblings, Augustina Frances Ernat, Leona Catherine Jacobs and Harry Stanley Molinoski.
Irene enjoyed raising her children and going camping and fishing with them. She loved being with her grandchildren. Irene also found joy in cake decorating, playing Bingo, visiting the casino, playing Tripoli and needlepointing and crocheting decorations. Irene and Lawrence belonged to several dance clubs and loved to polka.
