Irene Eileen Rost, 75, of Anamosa, formerly of Quincy, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at 2:26 p.m. in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Irene was born July 19, 1941, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of Everett and Sarah Bentley Setters. She married Robert Roy Rost on Feb. 20, 1959, in Quincy. He survives.
Irene worked at several local restaurants, including Willy's Cafe, but she was mainly
a housewife and mother.
Survivors in addition to her husband include seven children, John (Angie) Rost of Liberty, Ill., Robert (Sheila) Rost of Clayton, Ill., Tina (Chuck) James of Olin, Greg (Becky) Rost of Burton Township, Ill., Bryan (Jennifer) Rost of Anamosa, Brad (Dora) Rost of Warsaw, Mo., and Sara (Tom) Dillinger of Quincy; 26 grandchildren, Charity, John II, Cassie, Alex, Jeremy, Chad, Rocky, April, Kayla, Justin, Dawn, Amanda, Steven, Krissy, Nick, Zania, Zane, Quinton, Autumn, Summer, Harley, Crayton, Erika, Gene, Rosie and Jesse; 39 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and two special nieces, Betty "Sis" (Don) Herb of Hiawatha and Carolyn (Marty) Stanbarry of Quincy.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Bernice, Marie, Mildred, Mary and Frances.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Quincy, with Pastor Randy Kruse officiating. Burial: Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
