Irene D. Johnson, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 20, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, by Deacon Jim Berger. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.
Irene is survived by her husband, Charles; her sons, Todd and Chad, both of Cedar Rapids; grand-children, Bertena, Brayden and Tytus Johnson; and siblings, Kenneth Goodale, Osage, Arlene Fox, Elma, Viola Klassen, Adams, Minn., and Dean Goodale, Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Lillian (Wagner) Goodale; and three brothers, Bill, Vernon and Dale Goodale.
Irene was born July 5, 1951, in Mitchell, and was a 1969 graduate of Riceville High School. She and her family moved to Cedar Rapids from Mason City in 1975. Irene was employed at the Whirlpool plant in Amana.
She was a member of IAM Union Local 831. When her sons were in school, Irene had been a den leader for Cub Scouts and involved with the PTA at Wilson Middle School.
