Irene S. Engelmann, 87, of Dyersville, formerly of Grinnell, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial
in Mount Hope Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in the Carmen Center at Mayflower Homes in Grinnell on Friday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m.
Irene was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Tilden, Neb., the daughter of Otto and Josie (Cornett) Eggers. She married the Rev. Victor Engelmann on Oct. 19, 1952, in Tilden. He preceded her in death in 2004. Irene and Vic were a team; they served churches together, did woodworking and played table tennis together. She was a very talented seamstress. Irene was very involved at Pilgrim Heights Camp. Irene was active in the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children, Gloria (Mike) Kelly of Dyersville, the Rev. Vicki Engelmann of Central City and Mark Engelmann of Dyersville; 13 grandchildren, Sean (Mary) Kelly, Seth (Jana) Kelly, Shea (Emily) Kelly, Marie (Brandon) Tessau, Katherine (Pete) Schwarten, Michelle (Christian) Helmholz, Theresa Kelly, Joseph Kelly, Elizabeth Kelly, Veronica Kelly, Patrick Kelly, Christina Engelmann and Julianne Engelmann; 21 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and sibling, Robert (Dorothy) Eggers of Centerville, Ohio.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vic Engelmann; and brother, James Eggers.
