Irene Boddicker, 97, of Norway, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Colonial Manor, Amana. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. Michael's Parish Hall.

Irene was born Feb. 23, 1920, to Henry and Erma (VanHulle) Simoens, in rural Norway. She attended Norway Schools. On June 17, 1941, Irene married Franklin Boddicker at St. Michael's Church, Norway. She worked at Amana Woolen Mill and drove shuttle transporting Norway elementary school students. Irene also worked during elections in Norway.
Irene loved to play euchre, spoil her grandchildren, and she took pride in her beautifully cleaned windows.
She was a member of Foresters and volunteered at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana.
Irene is survived by her children, Joyce (Larry) Melsa of Grinnell and Gary (Vicki) Boddicker of Norway; grandchildren, Greg (Andrea) Melsa, Brad (Jennifer) Melsa, Jennifer (Kevin) Stallman and Jamison (Jason) Wendel; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin; son, Roger Boddicker; two sisters; and a brother.
