Inabelle A. Koeppen, 94, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Inabelle was born May 12, 1927, to Clarence and Lillian (Martinek) Hinkle in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. On June 26, 1946. Inabelle married Ray Koeppen. Keeping Belle Plaine their home, Inabelle worked various jobs, but was blessed to be able to mainly focus on raising her children.
Together she and Ray liked going to dances, dancing to country and polka. Inabelle enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Between cooking shows and "Family Feud," family and friends always knew what would be on TV when they stopped by to visit. She also adored her pets and watching the birds.
Inabelle was a Gold Star member of the Belle Plaine American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Bonnie) Koeppen of Belle Plaine, Linda Bender of Shellsburg, Jim Koeppen (Roxanne Kurth) of Keystone, Cindy Walton of Hartwick and Cheryl Johnson (Troy VanErsvelde) of Shellsburg; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Inabelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; son, Marvin Koeppen; brother, Marvin Dille; and sisters, Virginia Miller, Nadine Hatfield and Genevieve Hinkle.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the Belle Plaine American Legion with a time for sharing at 11 a.m. Burial will take place following at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
