Imogene (Ima) F. DeDecker, 71, of Marion, Iowa, passed away from complications due to cancer at St. Luke's Hospice in Cedar Rapids on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018. Private funeral services will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
Ima was born on May 4, 1947, the daughter of Francis and Leota Williams in Geneseo, Ill. She is a 1965 graduate of Geneseo High School. Ima was united in marriage to Lynn M. DeDecker on June 3, 1967, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Ima held several roles in the banking industry for 26 years. Ima enjoyed her exquisite flower garden, home decorating, reading and having coffee with her friends. Most of all, Ima adored spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them, especially at Christmas. She also loved shopping with her daughter, Abby. Ima always put the interests and needs of others ahead of her own.
Those left to cherish the memories include her husband, Lynn DeDecker, of Marion, Iowa; son, Todd (Janna) DeDecker, of Andover, Ill; daughters, Shelli (Aaron) Lytle, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Abby DeDecker of Marion, Iowa. Her grandchildren are Addisen, Amara and Evan Lytle, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Danielle and Erica DeDecker of Kitchener, Ontario. Ima is also survived by sisters, Peggy Williams, Rosetta Peiffer and Brenda (Greg) Van Opdorp; and brother, Rodney (Janice) Williams, all of Geneseo.
Ima was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.
