Ilten, Meta Marie Keiper
Meta Marie Keiper Ilten, 112, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in Mercy Hallmar. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, where visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. The Rev. David Miller will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Meta was known to her grandchildren and friends as Acka. She was born in Atkins, Iowa, on Sept. 7, 1899, and lived through three centuries, 1800, 1900 and 2000. She was born to Marie and Valentine Keiper, and was the last survivor of 11 siblings.
Meta is survived by a son, Jack (Ruth) Ilten of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Ethel Ilten; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Arthur Ilten Sr.; a son, Lee Arthur Ilten Jr.; and a grandson, Douglas Ilten.
Meta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served on many committees. Family and church was always very important to her. Meta's home was always a gathering place for family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all staff on the second floor of Hallmar for the tender loving care and Good Samaritan from Trinity Lutheran Church for all their visits with her.
