Ilo Sophia Glawe, 90, of Edgewood, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the Edgewood Conva-lescent Home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Cox Creek Township near Littleport to Joseph and Katherine (Hochhaus) Beck. Ilo attended Littleport Public School and graduated in May 1942. She then attended Upper Iowa University for two years and taught school at Waucoma and Colesburg.
On Oct. 23, 1947, Ilo was united in marriage to LeRoy Glawe. Three children were born to this union. The couple farmed in Lodomillo Township for 34 years before retiring to Strawberry Point. LeRoy passed away Aug. 20, 1995.
Ilo taught Sunday school for several years, was secretary-treasurer of Hope Council for six years and held various offices of the Women's ELCA and WELCA. Ilo sewed many quilts for LWR and missions, as well as for family members.
She liked gardening, flowers, genealogy, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Ilo was involved with the Northland Agency on Aging, Strawberry Point Senior Citizens, held various offices in the Lutheran Home Auxiliary, and volunteered for many community projects. She was active in the Clayton County Farm Bureau and was selected Clayton County Woman of the Year in 2002. Ilo was a lifetime member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Gary (M. Susan Wurtz) Glawe of Cedar Falls, Linda (Larry) Friedlein of Farmersburg and Brenda (Craig) Saunders of Manchester; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Dorothy) Beck of Elkader and Lyle (Jean) Beck of Dubuque; and one brother-in-law, the Rev. Adam Meidinger of Mesa, Ariz.
Ilo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy, in 1995; and her sister, Ruth Meidinger.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport, by Pastor Harold McMillin. Visitation: 3 tp 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood and one hour before time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment: Union Cemetery, Littleport.
