Ila Mae Meader
ILA MAE MEADER La Crosse, Wis. Ila Mae Meader, 90, of La Crosse, Wis., (formerly Manchester), passed away at her daughter's home in La Crosse on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Greeley, the daughter of Herman and Maria (Schade) Meyer. Ila was raised and educated in Delaware County and graduated from Earlville High School. Ila Mae was united in marriage to Edwin James Meader on April 17, 1945, in Delaware, Iowa. Edwin died March 18, 1953. On Feb. 18, 1961, Ila married Robert Lawrence Meader. Together they lived in Manchester, Central City and Cedar Rapids, where they owned and operated a health food store. They have lived in La Crosse for 2 1/2 years. Ila Mae enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her rock-solid presence in our lives will be very much missed. Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior was the cornerstone of her life, and she enjoyed fellowship with other Christians as well. Ila Mae spent time gardening and working crossword puzzles every morning. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include her husband, Robert Meader of La Crosse, Wis.; six children, James (Luba) Meader of Cedar Rapids, Cheryle Meader of Manchester, Vincent Meader of Anamosa, Lee (Luanne) Meader of Marion, Sandy (Mike) Bruce of La Crosse, Wis., and Jeannie Blettner of Marshall, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Iva Taylor of Manchester; and a brother, Ervin Meyer of Manchester. Ila Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edwin Meader; a son, Stuart C. Meader; a great-granddaughter, Ariana Meader; two brothers, Arnold and Hugo Meyer; and five sisters, Irene Meyer, Edna Meyer, Wilma Meier, Hattie Burmeister and Norma Hugh.
