Icenbice, Pauline
Pauline Icenbice, 86, of Deep River, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North English. Interment will be held in Armah Cemetery near Millersburg. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma, where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. and rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Pauline Frances Icenbice, daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Pfiester) Rank, was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Keswick, Iowa. She graduated from Keswick High School in 1942 and received her teaching certificate from William Penn University. She married Max Donald Icenbice in Armah, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Michael, Anita, Joseph, Thomas and Barbara Ann.
Pauline taught school for a few years and then later became a nurse's aide for the Poweshiek County Home and Montezuma Nursing Home.
She is survived by two children, Joseph (Lisa Clemens) Icenbice of Deep River and Anita (Ray) LeGrand of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Wendy Jo and Andrew Icenbice; and six great-grandchildren, Max, Molly, Keaton, Jason, Madilyn and Lacy.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; two sons, Michael Icenbice and Thomas Icenbice; a daughter, Barbara Ann Icenbice; a grandson, David Icenbice; a brother, Lloyd Rank; and eight sisters, Mable Cochran, Rena Schwer, Hazel Kron, Marvel Greiner, Mary Cogswell, Verna Myron, Doris Rank and Josephine Elick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the family.
