Iburg, Delmar H.E.
Delmar H.E. Iburg, 85, of Williamsburg, died Monday, May 3, 2010, at Mercy, Iowa City. Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, near Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg.
Delmar is survived by two sons, Gary (Brigitte) Iburg and Andrew (Lisa) Iburg, all of Williamsburg; three daughters, Julie Iburg of Williamsburg, Peggy (Rick) Holtz of Kenosha, Wis., and Rachel (Jim) Higgins of Kennesaw, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert (Elaine) Iburg of Williamsburg, and Kenneth (Joleen) Iburg of Hudson, Wis.
Delmar was born April 11, 1925, near Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Otto and Elsie (Newkirk) Iburg. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. Delmar was united in marriage to Phyllis Sandersfeld on August 29, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple had 50 wonderful years together. They lived and farmed in Iowa township for 35 years, until moving to Williamsburg in 1983. After farming all his life, Delmar worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on the maintenance crew for 14 years, retiring in 1997. During his retirement he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, mowing lawns and going to the Landmark Restaurant to meet with the AM coffee drinkers. He was a life time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Memorials are for Essence of Life Hospice or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
