Hutchison, Gertrude 'Bee'
Gertrude “Bee” Hutchison, 96, of Nashua, died Wednesday evening, July 28, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula officiating.
Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Dick Janssen, Rick Caldwell, T.J. Stepan, Dennis Burnett, Brian Sachen, and Larry Shepard serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua. Visitation will continue an hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Gertrude Bernice was born Jan. 25, 1914 in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Reinbird) Hillerege. Bee received her education in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1932. She continued her education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
On Thanksgiving Day in 1936, Bee was united in marriage to Robert G. Hutchison at the Methodist Church in Marion. The couple had two sons, and raised their family in Nashua. She was very active with the PEO and with the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, and cooking for her sons until her 90s.
Bee is survived by two sons, John (Debbie) Hutchison of Martensdale, Iowa, and Donald Hutchison; two granddaughters, Emily Hutchison of Martensdale, and Holly (Brian) Sachen of Charles City; and four great-grandchildren, Lakasha, Alex, Chaz, and Jaymison Sachen, all of Charles City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, in 1966; a brother, Donald Hillerege; and one granddaughter, Shelly Hutchison.
