Hutchcroft, Marion M.
Marion M. Hutchcroft, 96, a resident of Higley Mansion, died there Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Entombment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Tom (Susan) of Plano, Texas and Gerry (Sue) of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter, Mary Jo Bennetts of Buena Vista, Colo. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers and sisters.
Marion was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Clarence, the daughter of Wayne and Jeanette Schucks Claney. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Clarence High School. Marion later attended Paris Academy and married Jean R. Hutchcroft on Oct. 21, 1936, in Cedar Rapids.
Marion was a cosmetologist and worked the last 18 years at Peg's Cosmetology Salon. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, where she was a member of St. Cecelia Circle, volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in pastoral care and was a former member of the Printers Auxiliary.
Marion spent the last years at Keystone Place and then at Higley Mansion. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, going to the beach and traveling.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Marion's name.
