Huston, William R.
William R. Huston, 65, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in his home following an extended struggle with Alzheimer's disease. The family insured that William's last days were spent in his home and they were present up to the very end. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2204 26th St. NW, Cedar Rapids.
Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of 46 years; son, Scott (Rhonda) Huston, daughter, Michelle Bahr, and son, David (Lisa) Huston, all of Swisher. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Isaac Bahr, Holly Huston, Gracie Bahr, Bailey Huston and Scott Huston Jr.; three brothers, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law, Randy Bahr.
William R. Huston was born Aug. 1, 1946, to John and Edna Huston in Cedar Rapids. He was married to JoAnn Erickson in 1965. Bill worked as a plater for 27 years at LeFebure. The next 14 years Bill and JoAnn worked together in their cleaning service. This allowed them the opportunity to do a work they enjoyed - teaching others about the message of hope from the Bible.
Bill enjoyed music, opera and theater. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and traveling.
A special thanks goes out to all the family and friends that assisted in his care, especially Mercy Hospice and his three children.
A memorial fund is being set by the family.
