Husmann, Tossie (Cogdill) Aldrich
Tossie (Cogdill) Aldrich Husmann, 83, of Marion, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her family. Funeral services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Golden Congregational Church in rural Ryan, by the Rev. Mary Taylor. Family will greet friends one hour before services at the church. Burial: Golden Prairie Cemetery, rural Ryan. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Sara Ellen (Les) Kalina of Ankeny, Dean Aldrich of Marion, Marvin (Diane) Aldrich of Cedar Rapids and Sylvia (Jim) Grant of Marion; 14 grandchildren, Shanna (Mike) Smith, Sloan Kalina, Tanya (David) Otto, Derek Sinkey, Dean (Brittney) Aldrich Besta, Trudy Oltmanns, Felicia Martin, Brent Aldrich, Chad (Debbie) Aldrich, Nichole (Ty) Hansen, Matthew (Becky) Newhouse, Sheli (Jeremy) Eggiman, Laura Grant and Dina (Aaron) Thomas; 19 great-grandchildren, Britny, Ashlyn, Bret, Justin, Aaron, Ivan, Cole, Kelsey, Eliana, Melanie, Belle, Tylor, Kourtney, Gage, Easton, Brenna, Owen, Grant and Quinn; and two sisters, DeWasia Orr and Ostia Shelton.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond Aldrich and Paul Husmann; a daughter, Patty Aldrich; brothers, Bill and Paris Cogdill; and sister, Nelle Savage.
Tossie was born April 6, 1928, in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Del Rio, Tenn., the daughter of James and Elon (Price) Cogdill. She married Raymond Aldrich on Aug. 13, 1946. Tossie retired from Rockwell after 25 years. Family was very important to Tossie. She had a great love for her family gatherings. All of her grandchildren were very special to her. After the passing of her daughter Patty, Tossie raised her grandson, Matthew. She was especially proud of her four grandchildren currently serving in the military. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and always had grandma's homemade chocolate chip cookies ready for the grandkids.
