Husman, Christopher

CEDAR RAPIDS - Christopher Husman, 37-year-old resident of Buffalo, Wyo., passed away in Sheridan, Wyo., on June 20, 2009. Private memorial services and interment will be held for Chris's family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, WY 82834. The funds will be used to support the development of biodiesel technology, in recognition of Chris's lifelong passion in this area.

Christopher Olen Husman was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Dec. 30, 1972, to Daryle and Earleen Husman. He spent his youth living primarily in Iowa, and attended school in the Cedar Rapids Community School District, first at Arthur Elementary School, then Franklin Junior High, and finally Washington and Metro secondary schools. Upon leaving school, Chris embarked on a career in the contracting and construction industry, specializing in roofing, rough carpentry, tree service and landscaping. Recently before his death, he had received a commercial drivers' license, and planned to become a long-haul truck driver.

In addition to the pleasure he took in his work, Chris also showed great compassion for humanity, and was an ardent believer in personal responsibility and change through personal action. He took an active role in the Iowa caucuses, and was particularly interested in changing the economic and environmental living conditions of people around the world through alternative fuels, such as biodiesel, and alternative sources of food productions, such as harvesting wild sea vegetables.

Chris gave his family great joy during his life. He is survived by his mother, Earleen Ingalls Husman of Buffalo, Wyo.; his two sisters, Jenefer and Sarah, both of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His father was the late Daryle Husman.
