Huntington, Barbara A.
Barbara A. Huntington, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Jan. 11, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 7, 1933, in Bradford, Pa., she was the daughter of Richard Hughes and Pearl Frambus Hughes. On July 11, 1952, in Allegany, N.Y., she married Darrell W. Huntington, who preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1995.
Mrs. Huntington attended Bradford schools and graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1951. She was employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and later a secretary for the Bradford Area School District for many years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Bradford. She and her husband enjoyed boating on the Kinzua Reservoir, camping and traveling, and she was an avid reader.
Mrs. Huntington is survived by two daughters, Cyndia L. (David) Zias of Cedar Rapids and Linda K. (Michael) Confer of Bradford; and one daughter-in-law, Susan Huntington of Indiana, Pa. Her son, Scott Huntington preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2010. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Krista Huntington of Bradford, Sean Huntingon (Lisa Walters) of Great Valley, N.Y., Angela (Dan) Kolz of Rochester, Minn., Brian Zias of Pleasanton, Calif., Michele Confer (Jamie Backhus) of Kunkletown, Pa., and Patrick (Monica) Confer of Meadville, Pa.; and three great-grandchildren, Paul Kolz, Leah Confer and Jordan Unger.
A private memorial service is planned by the family in the spring. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, Pa.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
