Pearl Marie Hungerford, 94, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and McAllen, Texas, peacefully passed to her eternal reward on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Island Home Park Health & Rehab, Knoxville. A memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at New Covenant Bible Church, 3090 N. Center Point Rd., Cedar Rapids, where flowers will be accepted before 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27. Pearl always said, “Bring me flowers while I can enjoy them, rather than after I'm gone.” A contribution to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers would be Pearl's wish. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Pearl was born Sept. 13, 1919 in Lisbon, Iowa. She was a graduate of Lisbon High School and married Walter L. Hungerford on June 23, 1946, in Lisbon.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and foster children.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 2011; parents, Roy and Isabel Kohl; and sister, Rosena Whitson.
In addition to her biological children, Pearl was Mother to multiple nephews, nieces, and foster children throughout their formative years. In 1980, Walter and Pearl became winter Texans and traveled extensively; visiting friends, family and places of interest. In Pearl's later years, she resided with son, James and family in Knoxville before moving to Island Home Park Health & Rehab.
