Humbert, Burdell M.
Burdell M. Humbert, 101, of the Devonshire in Lisle, Ill., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his daughter's home in Naperville, Ill. Services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Davis of Naperville, and, Marilyn (Dick) Drew of Papillion, Neb.; and a sister, Lucille O'Leary of Boca Raton, Fla.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, one sister, and a son-in-law, Gregg Davis.
Burdell was born on March 26, 1911, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Bert and Clementina Krumroy Humbert. He married his wife of 63 years, Frances J. Winchell on July 31, 1937, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2000. Burdell was a special agent for the Mutual Fire and Automobile Insurance Co. for over 32 years retiring in 1974.
Burdell was a very social person who enjoyed nature, gardening, watching University of Iowa basketball and playing golf. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends and beloved family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
