Hughes, Bonnie Jean Bammert
Bonnie Jean Bammert Hughes, 77, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, April 25, 2011. Per Bonnie's request, there will be no visitation and a private graveside service. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are her two children, Robert (Debbie) Hughes of Stanwood, and Richard (Nancy) Hughes of Vinton; four grandchildren, Dale Hughes, Jeff (Kellie) Hughes, Abby Hughes and Amy Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Zach and Zoey; two sisters; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elva Hopper Bammert; her husband, Donald; her infant son, Donald Jr.; one brother; two sisters; and one half sister.
Also preceding her in death was her beloved dog, Buster, her faithful companion.
Bonnie was born June 4, 1933, in Cedar Rapids. She married Donald R. Hughes on Jan. 15, 1952. Don passed away in 2003, after 51 years of marriage.
Besides being a homemaker, Bonnie worked for Square D Company in Cedar Rapids. In 1969 they moved to Martelle, and along with her husband Don, ran the Martelle Tavern. In 1976, they moved to Mount Vernon and she worked for US Nameplate as a screen printer. She also worked for Graphics Circuits and Facility Services.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mike and Sheryl Koch for their love and support given to Bonnie. You were very special to her.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
