Hughes, Alice Loras
Alice Loras Hughes, 84, of Anamosa, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Sister Susan Dunwald will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 5 to 7 Sunday night at the funeral home, where a Scripture service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are two daughters, Margaret (David) Baillie of Leicester, N.C., and Candy (Dennis Mayberry) Bunce of Wyoming, Iowa; a sister, Jean McLees of Cascade; two sisters-in-law, Edna Davis of Hiawatha and Julia Davis of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Lynn Marie Raymond and Barbara Ann Dolan; a son, Ronald Raymond; three sisters, Lorraine, Betty and Margie; and three brothers, Jim, Sylvester and Merlin.
Alice Loras Hughes was born June 7, 1925, in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of James and Rose Kraus Davis. Alice worked as a bartender most of her life. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
