Hugh, Rhinard M.
Rhinard M. Hugh, 67, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died early Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Thomas McDermott. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, Cedar Rapids, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. A vigil service beings at 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Rhinard is survived by his wife, Hope; children, Bryan Anthony (Shirley) Hugh of Cedar Rapids; Suzanne Marie (Mitchell) Montover of Lafayette, Colo., and Rhiney Michael (Greta Hanson) Hugh of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren, Aubrey, James, Brittany, Bryan, Alexsis, Breanne, Bethany, Kaitlyn, Tynan, Jacob, BritneyJean, Katie, Emalee and SeanPhilipp; three great-grandchildren, Amiracle, Alexander and Zachariah; two sisters, Cheryl (James) Carnahan of Cedar Rapids, and Susan Blomme of Marion; two brothers, Jim (Deborah) Skelton of Walford, and Steve Skelton of Cedar Rapids; and mother-in-law, Helen Philipp of Cedar Rapids, and other members of the Philipp family.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Tabitha and Emma Lee Hugh; and his parents, Merlin and Beulah (Maire) Hugh.
Rhinard was born Sept. 7, 1943 in Manchester and had lived in Cedar Rapids since he was 7 years old. He married Hope M. Philipp on Nov. 28, 1964 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Rhinard had worked for the Hiawatha Lumber Company and later was employed as a bus driver and in maintenance at the Ground Transportation Center in Cedar Rapids. He worked for the River Front Commission, until his retirement in 2004. Rhinard was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
