Huedepohl, Vera Anna
Vera Anna Huedepohl died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 95 years.
Vera was born Feb. 11, 1918, in York Township, Iowa County, the daughter of John and Locere (Glandorf) Wardenburg. She graduated from St. Paul Lutheran School and Williamsburg High School. Vera was united in marriage to Arnold Ervin Huedepohl on Feb. 6, 1940, in Williamsburg. Together the couple lived and farmed near Homestead. After retirement they wintered in Phoenix, Ariz. While in Phoenix they attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Senior Seekers Bible Class. They also volunteered for Lutheran Braille Workers there. Arnold and Vera moved into the Highland Ridge Retirement Community in 2006.
Vera was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, raising a variety of Iris flowers, playing cards, music and prayers.
She is survived by her three children, Larry (Helen) Huedepohl and Robert (Edith) Huedepohl, both of Williamsburg, and Suzanne (Wayne) Schultz of Parker, Colo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and a sister, LaVerna Hill.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. Pastor Terry Small will officiate. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
Memorials are for Hospice Compassus, St. John Lutheran Church or Lutheran Interparish School.
