Huebener, LaVonne L.
LaVonne L. Huebener, 82, of Marion, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, 155 Boyson Rd., Marion, by the Rev. Paul Amlin. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, and one hour before services Thursday at the church. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children: Bruce (Teresa) Huebener of Ottumwa, and their sons, Zachariah and Jacob; Scott Huebener of Marion; Wayne Huebener of Iowa City and Mark Huebener of Bloomington, Ill.; brother-in-law, Donald Kroening of Marion; sister-in-law, Sue Goffredi of Bath, N.C.; and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Nadine.
LaVonne was born April 14, 1930, in Atkins, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Raetz) Krug. She graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1948, and went on to graduate from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1951. LaVonne married Albert T. Huebener on Nov. 20, 1955, in Jesup. Albert died Jan. 16, 1971. LaVonne was the health coordinator for HACAP Head Start for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She was a founding and active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Marion.
LaVonne enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital for many years; she also volunteered with Theatre Cedar Rapids, The Follies, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for years. Mostly, LaVonne enjoyed being with her family.
