Hudson, Wallace
WALLACE HUDSON
Iowa City
Wallace Weir "Wally" Hudson, 85, formerly of Iowa City, passed into Heaven Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Fountain Hills, Ariz.
He was known as a man of honor, and a man of God.
Wallace was born Jan. 3, 1929. He was raised on a farm in the Iowa City area. He married Patricia Mae Pechman on June 4, 1949, and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last summer. Patty was the love of his life and they were inseparable.
Wallace farmed for 13 years, and in 1956, he started work at Proctor & Gamble Co. in Iowa City while continuing to farm. During his career with P&G he rose from janitor to mechanical manager in the 34 years he worked for the company. Among his many accomplishments were the designing and building of several of his own homes. He also helped design a new P&G production facility in Greensboro, N.C.
Wallace was known for his wisdom, kindness and attention to detail in all he did. First and foremost he considered himself a farmer, in love with the land God gave him to tend. No one could have asked for a finer husband, father and friend than Wally.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Linda Jones of Haslet, Texas; son. Michael Hudson of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Chicago; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
May God bless you Wallace as you have blessed us. We will see you in Heaven.
A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a graveside service following that time at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Fellowship Church in Iowa City or SBG Ministries in Greensboro, N.C.
Online condolences can be sent to his family at www.gayandciha.com.
