Hudson, Robert Vincent

Robert Vincent Hudson, 89, formerly of Worthington Drive SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, in the Solon Nursing Care Center, Solon. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.

Robert was a loving husband and father of his three children, Lawrence “Larry” Hudson of LaVerne, Tenn., Becky Beard of Cedar Rapids, and Robert (Bonnie) Hudson of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Dominick, Tasha, Robbie and Matt; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother, James.

Robert was born Aug. 28, 1920, in North English, Iowa, the son of Roy and Gladys (LaVelle) Hudson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1945, he married Dorothy Stoffs. She died April 23, 1989. For 33 years, Robert worked for Wilson Foods/Farmstead Foods.
