Howard C. Luckstedt, 76, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery.
Howard was born July 20, 1937, in Jones County, Iowa, to Clarence and Mildred B. (Wright) Luckstedt. Howard graduated from Onslow School with the class of 1954. He began driving school bus and worked for Onslow Lumber Yard right out of school. He was united in marriage with Evelyn Mae (Cress) on Aug. 30, 1959, at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Howard then worked at Clinton Engines, a year for a farmer, State of Iowa Highway Commission and drove truck for Don Buchholtz and Roger Pegorick. He joined Teamsters Local 238. He then started driving for Briggs Transportation, MSI and AW Schmidt.
After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and doing a little bit of gambling. Howard was a lifelong member of Zion American Lutheran in Wyoming.
Howard is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mae Luckstedt; daughters, Bonnie Sue (Dan) Pulse of Dixon, Iowa, and Susan Marie (Steve Hefel) Luckstedt of Wyoming, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dorotha Bickford; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Charlotte) Cress and Randy (Carol) Cress; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
