Howard Kenneth Hollingshead Jr., 93, of Monroe, Ohio, died Sunday, March 16, 2014.
He was born to Howard and Gladys (nee Stanger) Hollingshead Sr. on Aug. 26, 1920, in Russell, Iowa. Howard worked in sales for Cooper Industries for 30 years and retired in 1985.
He was a loving husband, father and patriot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Hollings-head; and one sister, Mary Yocom.
Howard was survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley (nee Like) Hollingshead of Monroe; four children, Larry (Lynne) Hollings-head of Lebanon, Ohio, Margaret Hollingshead of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mark (Donna) Hollingshead of St. Peters, Mo., and Paul Hollingshead of Longmont, Colo.; one brother, Richard (Betty) Hollingshead of San Louis Obispo, Calif.; one sister, Barbara Palan of Chicago; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Howard and Shirley Jeanette Like Hollingshead, his wife of 70 years, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
