Howard William Crawford, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home &
Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; children, Len (Kathy) Skvor, Mary (John) Zlatohlavek, Joe (Linda) Skvor, Tom (Anne) Skvor, Ruth (Buck Brown) Fuessley, Dan Skvor, Theresa Skvor, and Michelle Butler, all of the Cedar Rapids area; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Mead.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ada and Frank; his father, Jacob; and grandson, Josh Skvor.
Howard was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Jacob Howard and Ada (Parker) Crawford. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Frank. He married Evelyn Dee on Nov. 10, 1985. Howard was very proud to serve his country and farm his land, but his greatest joy in life was his family. Howard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, me-morials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
